Speech-Language Pathologist (Full Time, Contract)

Autism Partnership & Behaviour Therapy and Learning Centre are agencies dedicated to providing behaviour intervention and educational programming for children with autism and other developmental disabilities, and their families. Specializing in the use of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Discrete Trial Teaching, we believe in comprehensive intervention/programming designed to meet the unique, individual needs of each child we work with.

AP provides predominately home-based services devoted to enhancing overall quality of life through treatment focused upon the development of improved communication and social skills, self-help and adaptive functioning skills, play and leisure skills, physical and motor development, cognitive abilities, and behaviour.

BTLC is dedicated to developing and providing, in collaboration with parents and specialists, dynamic individualized program plans (IPP) that meet the needs of each individual child that attends our school program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Client assessment and treatment (direct and consultative)
  • Development of individualized treatment programs for clients that fit within the ABA philosophy, with ongoing evaluation of client progress in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Consultation with parents and teachers, for coordination of school and home programs
  • Documentation to support goal planning and ongoing client evaluation, including Individualized Program Plans (IPP) – classroom programs, Coordinated Service Plans (CSP) –home programs, as well as Speech-Language Assessment and Treatment Summary reports
  • Supervision, support, and training for educational assistants (classroom programs) and aides (home programs)
  • Parent support and education
  • Preparation and provision of treatment materials to support client’s treatment goals; provision of test materials
  • Travel to our office, homes and schools within the city of Calgary
  • Attendance at monthly meetings with the multidisciplinary team, program review meetings with parents, and periodic interaction with government agencies
  • Tracking, preparation and submission of invoices to AP and BTLC for services rendered

Position:

This is a full time, contract position working Mondays through Fridays mainly during daytime hours.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution
  • Proof of registration with ACSLPA
  • Professional liability insurance (general commercial liability insurance is also recommended)
  • Experience working with preschool children (experience working with children with autism and other disabilities is an asset)
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred but not required
  • Demonstrates flexibility, strong interpersonal and excellent organizational skills
  • Passionate, positive attitude and the desire to celebrate both big and small accomplishments
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle

Program Specialist/Educational Assistant

JOB OVERVIEW:

Staff to fill employment needs within both companies; a combination of providing 1:1 home therapy as a Program Specialist through Autism Partnership and classroom support as an Educational Assistant through BTLC.

Responsible for implementing the goals in our client’s program plans and making a difference in the lives of the children and their families!

Position:

1 full time position available in January
Full time: Monday to Friday daytime; 35-40 hrs/wk starting as soon as possible

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Post secondary education in a related field (social work, disability studies, psychology, ABA, etc.)
  • Reliable vehicle
  • Valid Alberta Driver's License and car insurance
  • Availability to work within the city of Calgary
  • Effective time management and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children with disabilities is an asset
  • Experience with and/or an in-depth understanding of ABA therapy is an asset
  • Enthusiasm, willingness to learn, desire to make a difference, and commitment
